Mosquitoes are a problem across the country. The pesky insects seem to be everywhere, and no amount of bug spray can keep them away.

The military has their own method of keeping them away that works. Make your own mosquito trap. If it’s good enough for our military, it should work for you. Give it a try and stop those mosquitoes that like to drain your blood.

  1. This is an OK idea but if they can’t get out, how do the females get in to lay the eggs? I work in a West Nile Virus program in PA…if you really want to break the cycle, put a plastic tote on ur property. Fill it about three inches deep w a mixture of water, grass clippings, egg whites, and milk. It’s called gravid water. Smells horrid and keep ur dog away. It’s what we use to attract them to the traps. Instant stagnant water. Females have to lay the eggs in stagnant water that contains organic material for the larvae to feed. Go out and dump the tote every other day or so. It’ll be hard to see but you will be killing the egg rafts. The adults lay eggs on a blade of grass etc to create a raft. No water and they dry out and die.
